Taking a Selfie
In this piece I am exploring and deconstructing the aspects of self-identity through the use of the infamous “selfie” movement. With the new possibilities of the Internet, most are surrounding their lives and interaction consisting with media screens. This progressing Internet means subconsciously forms the way we live our lives and the way we form our own identities and opinions. With the idea of society becoming interconnected and ever globally communicative, we begin to question our own identity and existence in this world wide web of narcissism and trends creating an ever-distorted portrayal of individuality and sense of self. With this in mind, I am going straight to the source and using self images combined with video to question my own journey of self-identity while being a part of an internet based culture.
